My Story -- By Katherine Leon |

My name is Katherine Leon and I will never forget the night my beloved fiance, Henry R. Flores, was shot and murdered outside Azucar nightclub in Grand Rapids on January 1, 2005 at 2:30 am. On December 31, Henry got ready to go out with his two friends and their girlfriends to bring in the New Year.
Katherine Leon and Henry Flores met as teenagers in 1997 at Holland High School in Michigan. They fell in love immediately and remained high school sweethearts all the way up through the birth of their daughter, Alexandra, in 1999. In 2004 they got engaged and set their wedding date for September 22, 2006-- the anniversary of their first date. They were both working hard to save money, care for their daughter and to begin their lives together as a family.
He was so loving and shy. He was unique and different from everybody else. He was different by the way he carried himself. He loved to fish and he even taught me how to fish. He taught me how to like it a lot. He taught me a lot of things like sports. He was my best friend. |

New Years Eve Celebration Turns Deadly |

On New Years Eve, 2005, Henry was planning to go out with a couple of his friends and their girlfriends to celebrate the New Year. Katherine had to work that night at a local nursing home in Holland, Mich. and was not able to join the friends. The group of five ended up at Azucar on Division Street in Grand Rapids. While dancing, two women from Henry's group got into an argument with some other women at the club. The argument escalated and two groups of people, including Henry, were ushered out of the club through different doors. Once outside, however, the argument continued.
According to police, witnesses said that outside the club, Nestor Cuello and his friends were arguing with Henry and his friends when police say Cuello pulled a gun from his waistband and shot Henry at point-blank range in the chest.
He was just a mellow guy, he didn't bother anybody, and he just stayed to himself. It wasn't typical of him to be in a fight. He was kind of a peacemaker. I don't understand why he didn't just walk away. |

Shooter Flees And Eludes Capture |

Police say that after shooting Henry, Cuello and his friends fled the scene on foot. Cops say Cuello's family told them that he may have been on route to New York City. They added that he may ultimately be trying to flee to his home country, the Dominican Republic. The fugitive task force tracked Cuello to Florida but they now believe he may be back in New York City.
Nestor Cuello took the life of a great guy, my best friend, my soulmate, a papi to our baby, a son, a brother, a grandson. We will never be able to make live memories again but Nestor Cuello can't take away the sweet memories in my heart and now we want Henry to be at peace, so please help us find these criminals to lock them up forever |
