My Story By Phyllis Crutchfield |
|
| |
My name is Phyllis Crutchfield and on December 8, 2002 at 1:20 am my brother, Robert Kendall Crutchfield was surprised by intruders in his Dunwoody home and died as a result. I want them [the intruders] to come to justice, but they are probably living hell on earth. Everybody loved him. I couldn't think of an enemy that he had. I want to see them face to face and I want to know why. I just want to know why.
Robert Kendall Crutchfield, known to his friends and family as Kendall, was a very quiet man who kept to himself. According to his sister, Phyllis, he didn't have a lot of friends and didn't go out and party. He had a business degree from Northwood Institute in West Palm Beach, FL and worked as a supervisor at Dekalb Tire in Sandy Springs, GA. |

Early Morning Armed Robbery Leaves Man Dead |

So who would want to hurt such a quiet and likeable guy? Well, cops are trying to find out what happened. According to their police report, the Fulton County Police Department responded to a 911 call at the Azalea Park Apartments in the North River area of Sandy Springs, GA, on December 8, 2002. When they entered the apartment, they found Robert Kendall Crutchfield lying face down on the floor in the front hallway. Kendall's hands were tied and bound behind his back with a TV cord. They also discovered a woman, identified as Kendall's girlfriend, crying in the closet of the master bedroom.
According to the witness report taken by the Fulton County Police, Kendall's girlfriend says she was watching TV from the master bedroom and Kendall was watching TV from the living room couch. Shortly after one o'clock in the morning there was a knock at the door. Kendall got up to open the door and a loud exchange followed. Kendall yelled to his girlfriend to call 911 so she grabbed her cell phone and dialed. Then, a dark skinned man, described as being 5'9" and 160lbs with a beard came into the bedroom and struck her on the head. She was dragged into the living room and was asked "Where is it? [the money]". The witness then states she was ordered back into the master bedroom and told to remove her clothes and get into the closet. When the police arrived, the apartment had been ransacked. The assailants allegedly exited the apartment through a rear bedroom window. |
