  Case Story
Convicted Cop Shooter Wanted For Violent Bank Robberies
Police say Kendall Alexander Sr., who was convicted in 1987 of trying to kill a cop, is now back on the streets and on the run. In 1987, Kendall Alexander Sr. escaped from a Maryland prison and was cruising in a stolen car on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway when he and two friends were pulled over by U.S. Park Police Officer Patrick Gavin. Officer Gavin approached the car and asked the driver for identification. Alexander handed over his id, but as Officer Gavin called in the information, Alexander opened fire, shooting Gavin in the head. Officer Gavin survived, and Alexander was arrested and convicted of attempted murder. After serving 28 years, Alexander was released from a Maryland prison in October 2004. Officials say it wasn't long before he was back to his old habits.

Back To A Life Of Crime
Just months after he was released from prison, cops say Alexander robbed two Maryland banks. On August 10, 2005, two men suspiciously walked into a local bank. Cops say the older man shot the ceiling with a high-powered rifle while a younger man quickly grabbed cash from the tellers. Within minutes, officials say the two were out the door carrying $4,000 in cash. When police retrieved the round from the ceiling, they learned it was an armor-piercing bullet, capable of penetrating a bulletproof vest. Days later, a confidential informant told police the names of the two men involved in the August Baltimore bank robbery: Kendall Alexander Sr. and his son, Kendall Alexander Jr. Soon, Kendall Alexander Jr. and the getaway driver were picked up for the August 10th bank robbery. But Kendall Alexander Sr. was no where to be found.
