Sex Offender Strikes Again |

May 28, 2003 was a good day for David Kiermaier. He was back on the street after serving nearly 10 years in prison. Kiermaier was convicted in 1993 of sexual battery on a 5-year-old girl and sentenced to 20 years. When he was paroled from the Washington Correctional Institute in Angie, Louisiana, Kiermaier moved to nearby Bogalusa and began working as a day laborer. On May 29, 2004, a year and a day after being paroled, Bogalusa detectives say Kiermaier lured a female friend to his apartment and raped her. The 43-year-old woman is mentally impaired and police say Kiermaier threatened to hurt her if she went to the authorities. The victim confided in a friend, who then alerted the police department. Investigators say that Kiermaier had already fled the area. Several days later, on June 3rd, a warrant was issued for Kiermaier's arrest. That same day, a witness reported seeing Kiermaier hitchhiking outside a motel in Picayune, Mississippi. |

Tips Lead To Georgia |

On June 27, 2004, detectives received a tip putting Kiermaier at a house in Cumming, Georgia. Cumming Police Officers checked the residence and learned that they'd just missed catching Kiermaier. It was the last confirmed sighting of David Kiermaier. Investigators say they've recently learned that Kiermaier may still be living in Georgia with a woman and her young child. Detectives aren't sure if the woman knows about Kiermaier's past and are extremely concerned for the child's safety.
Kiermaier has violated the terms of his parole and will have to serve the remainder of his initial 20-year sentence once he is apprehended. Police say Kiermaier has made statements that he won't go back to prison. Detectives describe him as a smooth talker who targets and preys upon women who are overweight, poorly educated, and have low self esteem. Detectives say Kiermaier uses the internet to meet women and may post pictures of himself on the web. |
