Stepfather Charged In Teen's Death |

Maryland authorities are trying to track down a convicted sex offender accused of murdering his 13-year-old stepdaughter and then setting his house on fire. Cops say Carl Evans cold-bloodedly stabbed his stepdaughter to death and then set the house on fire, with an 8-month old baby inside, hoping to destroy any evidence.
On Monday, July 25, 2005, authorities responded to the scene of a fire in Essex, Maryland. Firefighters were able to rescue 8-month-old Mossett Kendrall Evans from the house and then discovered the body of Breaunna Floyd.
Witnesses told police they saw Evans leave the house as emergency crews were responding, saying "my kids are dead." |

Evans was convicted of first-degree rape in 1991. In 1993 and 1996, Evans violated his probation and was ordered to serve a seven year, eight-month sentence. Since his release, Evans has registered on the Maryland Sex Offender Registry as a sexually violent offender.
Now, authorities have expanded their search for this convicted sexual predator. Cops say Evans has contacts in North Carolina, Virginia and Florida and may be hiding out there. |
