A Black Firebird And Cheap Cigars |

For nearly two years, a man has been plucking women off the streets of Manhattan and Northen New Jersey and taking them on the most terrifying rides of their lives. He holds his victims captive for hours before releasing them miles away. But two new clues could help bring him down.
First, cops are almost certain that one of the vehicles the rapist uses is a third-generation Pontiac Firebird. And it has to be an '86 or later based on the position of the square brakelight in the back window.
A car-savvy victim relayed this information to police after the rapist dumped her off in a parking lot: it's an early-1980's Firebird, black, automatic with center console, stop light in the hatchback window. The cops checked the lot's surveillance cameras, and sure enough, they discovered footage of a Firebird that matched her description.
Cops say that the rapist also prefers to smoke "Black & Milds," small, pipe-tobacco cigars with a plastic or wood stout. One victim says that he mentioned this in passing. Another actually witnessed him light one up right in front of her.
In March, we passed along another very important clue. After grabbing a woman in North Bergen, N.J., and attacking her, the man directed her to put on a pair of overalls with Winnie the Pooh on the bib. The design on the denim overalls is of the yellow, cartoon bear with his honey pot.
After the frightened woman put on the garment, the rapist left her in Newark, N.J.
Cops are hoping that someone who knows the rapist will recognize the car, cigars, and overalls and reveal the identity of the vicious attacker. |

Search For Serial Rapist Intensifies After Latest Attack |

Cops say they've had reports of at least nine rapes from women on both sides of the Hudson River. And most of the cases have a lot in common.
Police say the perpetrator is targeting women of all ages -- three of his victims were 16-years old. In many of the cases, the suspect snatched them from outside of a bar or club and forced them into the backseat of his car.
One victim told America's Most Wanted that she was heading home from a trendy Chelsea club in Manhatten on Friday, June 24, 2005, when the rapist snatched her off of the street at knife-point, forced her into his car, and raped her. But the horror didn't stop there.
Investigators say he then threw the naked woman in the trunk of his sports car and drove around. It's uncertain where he went while the woman was trapped. After letting her out and raping her a second time, he drove the woman to Elizabeth, New Jersey where he left her in the street. |

Tracking His Pattern |

Police are having a hard time tracking the rapist and collecting forensic evidence, because he frequently wears a condom. And when he doesn't, he cleans off his victims to make sure he doesn't leave any evidence behind. However, over the past few weeks police have gotten a break and been able to confirm that DNA from two of the rape scenes matches. And they strongly believe the suspect is responsible for all of the other rapes in this pattern, too.
Investigators describe the suspect as a white hispanic male in his mid-twenties. He stands about 5'6", has a thin build, and carries a silver-folding knife.
The rapist also has some creepy tactics. He'll make small talk with his victims to put them at ease. Then he tells them that he's only going to rob them -- that way they won't resist him or try to get away.
Police say it's time to put this predator behind bars, and they need your help. |
