  Case Story
Fugitive Couldn't Take Heat, Fled Via Kitchen
Investigators in Arizona are trying to nab Luis Lopez-Erives -- a man they say has a taste for dangerous shoot-outs and quick escapes. Lopez-Erives is facing a slew of charges but his first run-in with the law went down on Aug. 2, 2004. That's the night Lt. Mark Zingg with the Phoenix Police Department spotted a red Honda Accord running a red light. Zingg tried to stop the car but that's when the trouble started. Flashing lights didn't get the car's driver to slow down. Instead, the car took off, leading police on a chase. The car finally pulled into a parking lot, but the chase wasn't over yet. The car's passengers allegedly raced out of the car, on foot and headed for the golf course at the Arizona Biltmore resort. Police say that's when Lopez-Erives fired a shot into the ground to intimidate them. And police say the shooting didn't stop there. After taking off, the suspects allegedly tried to get away again by attempting to steal another car. Police say the men found a vehicle and shot the driver in the shoulder. But the driver accelerated to get away and was later  treated in the hospital. Police made quick moves to catch up with the suspects and set up a perimeter. Eight hours later, their efforts paid off -- police caught Lopez-Erives and Alberto Erives Hernandez. Police booked Lopez-Erives on several charges including Theft of Means of Transportation, Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer, Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault. Police then took Lopez-Erives to his new home -- the Towers Jail in Maricopa County but he wasn't about to stay put.

  Disguise Demise
This fugitive's latest bout with the law went down on on April 11, 2005. Lopez-Erives was already behind bars but that wouldn't be the case for long. He shortened his stay at the Towers Jail by disguising himself as a kitchen worker and then escaping from a life behind bars. Now Lopez-Erives has another charge on his slate -- escape. But he won't remain an escapee for long if police get their way. And there are plenty of clues that could help put an end to this chase. This fugitive allegedly loves tattoos and has plenty of ink. He has a tattoo of the number "666." He also has the name "Lopez" tattooed on his back and a double claw on his chest. Police also say he has a specific interest in satanic tattoos. But tattoos aren't the clues that might help tipsters spot out Lopez-Erives. Lopez-Erives is also a musician and plays the drums and accordian in a Mexican band. That's why police think he might still be working as a musician. Not only that, cops say he might also be working in a tattoo parlor and they say he'd mention getting into the tattoo business in Denver. And police say there's one more clue -- Lopez-Erives likes to wear a big white straw hat.
