  Case Story
  Extreme Hit and Run
Cops say most drivers who hit pedestrians typically feel remorse. But once in awhile, they encounter hit and run accidents, where a driver flees to avoid punishment. Cops in Nassau County, New York say Sebastian Roberto Barba committed an extreme hit and run against an elderly woman. He didn't just hit this woman -- according to witnesses, he intentionally murdered her.

  Accident Turns To Murder
On February 6, 2001, cops say Barba was out for a drive when an elderly woman began to make her way across the street at a crosswalk in front of him. Cops say Barba hit the woman with his square-model Cadillac. Though cops say he was only driving between five and ten miles-per-hour, there was enough force to throw the woman on the hood of Barba's car. Instead of stopping to help the woman, witnesses watched in horror as Barba slammed on his brakes in an apparent attempt to force the woman off his car. Even after taking such a violent hit, the woman was still alive, lying on the pavement and attempting to get up. Cops say this is when Barba's "accident" turned into murder. Witnesses tell cops Barba had no intention of sticking around to help the woman he'd hit. They say despite several warnings from bystanders to stick around and wait for an ambulance, Barba revved his engine and drove directly over the woman's head, killing her instantly. Cops say Barba high-tailed his car out of sight, and hasn't been seen since.
