  Case Story
  Custody Lost
Michael and Haley Lovely had a volatile relationship. Police say they would frequently swing from love to hate.  Police believe that part of the reason was Michael's temper and abuse.  In the spring of 2004, one of Haley's children, was taken to the hospital. The child spent over two months in the hospital with what police say are injuries sustained from child abuse -- like those of shaken baby syndrome. Police believe that Lovely had badly beaten his stepchild.  Custody of the two young children was taken away from Haley and given to Haley's mother, and Michael Lovely as ordered to stay away from Haley and the children. But Haley was pregnant with a third child, so police believe Haley and Lovelyl stayed in contact.   When Haley's mother went to Florida for the winter, the children were ordered to stay with Haley's sister. Meanwhile, Haley maintained custody of her new baby.

  Escape to Georgia
Police say on New Years Eve, Haley asked her sister, if she could keep her other two children overnight. The sister agreed, but told her she would pick the children up by 10 AM the next morning. When Haley's sister arrived to pick the children up, Haley and the children were gone. Police believe that Michael and Haley began talking again and they decided to flee the state with the children For several months Haley, Michael, and the three children were able to elude law enforcement. Police continued their aggressive search for the Lovelys with had no luck, until they received a phone call from Haley's mother. She told police she received a phone call from Haley asking her to pick up the children. She said the phone call was interrupted when Michael came into the room yelling and hung up the phone. Haley's mother was able to tell police that she thought the call was coming from Georgia.

Eviction Sends Couple on The Run
Police were able to confirm the Lovely's were in Georgia when the Rome Police Department received a phone call from a couple of neighbors in the apartment complex. Police say one woman's car had been stolen by the Lovelys and another had some checks that were missing. Police believed Haley had stolen the checks. This was just days after the couple had been given an eviction notice. Police say that the Lovelys are now on the run with the three children, Jayce, Kamyrn, and Preston who are all under the age of three. They still could be driving the 1994 Mitsubishi Eclipse that was stolen from their neighbor. Police found a letter in their apartment that Michael Lovely wrote to a friend that stated he had a bullet with his own name carved on it and a bullet with Haley's carved on it. Police believe the children are in great danger.
