  Case Story
  Murder Motive Remains A Mystery
Alfonso Victoriano Serrano died a horrible death. Investigators found the homeless man's dead body on April 17, 2003 near the parking lot he called home. Shortly after the discovery, authorities determined that Serrano died from trauma to the head, neck and testicles. But it was less obvious who would have done this to a man with few material possesions. Police say Serrano was an alcoholic from Mexico who lived in a van with a friend. But police eventually found a few clues that led them to a suspect.

  Trail Of Blood
Witnesses told police they spotted Serrano walking around with someone the night before he died. Police say that person turned out to be Jesus Rojas Olivera. At first, Olivera  told investigators he didn't even know Serrano. But investigators say Olivera's story continued to change. Finally, police say Olivera admitted he and Serrano knew each other and had been drinking that night. But police learned even more than that after visiting Olivera's house. Authorities say that's where they found enough evidence to link him to the crime. Police  found everything from cushions to shoes with blood stains on them. Finally, a DNA test of some of the items gave police the crack in the case they were looking for. Police say the bloody evidence in Olivera's house matched Serrano's blood. But in this case, naming the suspect turned out to be easier than catching him. Police issued an arrest warrent for Olivera but he's hit the road since then. Investigators are calling upon crime-fighters and tipsters out there to help them close this case for good.
