A Baby Thrown Out Like Trash |
|
| |
A woman on a road in North Lauderdale, Florida sees what she believes is someone littering. According to police, the woman witnessed someone throwing what appeared to be a package from a moving vehicle. The object landed 3 to 4 feet in a grassy area off the road. The car just kept driving. When the woman went to get a closer look at what had been tossed from the car, she saw a plastic bag... and it was moving. She opened the bag and found a baby boy inside. |

Witness Rescues Baby |
|

The woman quickly wrapped the baby in a towel and rushed him to the local Sheriff's Office. A helicopter transported the baby to the Broward General Medical Center in serious condition. Doctors estimated that the 8-pound, 2-ounce infant could not have been more than an hour old when he was tossed from the moving car.
Police say the childs umbilical cord was still attached when he was discovered. Miraculously, police say the baby sustained no physical bruises or scratches.
Detectives say that around 2:30 p.m. on February 10th, the witness saw a couple in an older model white car, possibly a Ford Crown Victoria, driving near a Boys and Girls Club in North Lauderdale. The driver was described as a black male with an afro-style hair cut. The passenger was described as a white female with braids. The couple appeared to be arguing. Police say the vehicle then slowed down, the passenger side door opened, and the newborn was tossed out of the car. The car then sped up to an intersection and headed east. |

Suspects Sought |

Doctors have now upgraded the baby to good condition and are fairly confident the child will be okay.
Investigators are searching for the couple the witness described. They don't know if the couple are the child's biological parents. Detectives are hoping the couple will feel remorse and turn themselves in. Police believe the mother of the child may be seeking medical attention. |
