  Case Story
American Success Story Ends In Las Vegas Tragedy
On August 8, 2003 police were called to the Town Lodge Motel after a housekeeper discovered a body in room 38. Police would soon discover the body was Mary Louise Moore. In the motel room, police found a pair of men's sunglasses left on the dresser and a receipt from the fast-food restaurant Jack In The Box. Surveillance footage from the restaurant showed Mary with a man wearing what appeared to be the same sunglasses found at the motel. Now police needed to identify the man with Mary in the surveillance footage. They knew Mary frequented a homeless shelter, and asked some employees from that shelter to identify the man from the photo. Sure enough, one of the employees recognized Mary's companion as Ronald Lee Lennon. Ronald  Lennon often worked at homeless shelters, and Mary Moore was a homeless woman who used the services of shelters when her social security money ran dry. As police dug into Mary's past, the connection between the two became clearer.

Lennon--A Helping Hand At A Homeless Shelter?
Those who know him say Robert Lee Lennon is a very private man, nobody really knew much about him. The left side of Lennon's face is severely disfigured from an auto accident, although he would rarely discuss it. Originally from Indiana, Lennon had relocated more than once and had called Las Vegas his home since 1998. He worked odd jobs and drove delivery trucks, but never truly had a career. When Lennon first visited The City Mission Missionaries he was employed, but was homeless. Friends say he didn't have the typical problems most homeless people have--he had no history of mental illness, drinking, or using drugs.  Eventually, Lennon was offered a job by the shelter, where he took care of odds and ends in exchange for free rent at an apartment nearby, free food, and a $30 a week stipend. Cops say it was there at The City Mission Missionaries Lennon would meet Mary. Friends say Mary was a once middle class woman who had a succesful career as a legal secretary in California. She only had two vices in life--smoking cigarettes and gambling. After the death of her first husband she remarried to a man that enjoyed to gamble as much as she did. The couple moved to Las Vegas together, but husband died-- and soon her love of gambling turned into an addiction. Mary lost her house and all of her savings. Not only had her gambling caught up with her and forced her to live on the streets, but her years as a smoker caused her to develop lung cancer. The once middle class woman was now homeless and suffering from a fatal diesease, living solely off her social security checks. All she had left was "Pooh Bear," her little white dog. When her social security money would run dry Mary would often find herself seeking food and shelter at The City Mission Missionaries, the same shelter where Lennon was employed. But those who spent time at the shelter say while Lennon and Mary knew each other, they were by no means friends.

Now Unemployed-- Cops Say Lennon's Next Job Was Robbery And Murder
In 2003 Lennon was fired from The City Mission Missionaries when a worker found some pornographic fliers and gambling receipts in his desk. Lennon was suddenly homeless, just like Mary. Lennon turned to a pastor from the shelter named Tom Klingforth whom he'd known for several years to help him find another place to stay, but after a few months of problems with the landlord, Lennon was evicted. Cops say it was during this troublesome time in his life Lennon somehow became reacquainted with Moore and ended up in her motel room. Apparently trusting Lennon was another gamble Mary was bound to lose. Sadly, Mary Louise Moore never hit that jackpot she was hoping for to reclaim her once secure life and cops say her life tragically ended in a violent robbery committed by Ronald Lee Lennon.
