Girl May Be With Man She Met On The Internet |
|
| |
When the parents of Margaret Wilkerson went to bed on Monday evening they had no idea that by the time they awoke the next morning their daughter would be gone. Police say 13-year-old Margaret left her home in League City, Texas to meet a man she met on the internet. That man is going by the name Paul Bennett and claims to be 22 years old. Police have been unable to verify any of this information thus far. They believe the pair may be headed to Washington state. Police fear for the safety of the child and have issued an AMBER Alert. |

Cops Question Friends |
|
| |
Some of Margaret's friends from school told officers that she had planned to leave that night and had told them that was her last day at school. Police also found a telephone number on the family's caller ID with a Washington state area code-- a call police believe Bennett made.
Police now know the pair is traveling in a red Chevy Cavalier with a Texas license plate number M47-ZJR. |

FBI Gets Involved |
|
| |
The FBI has obtained a felony arrest warrant for Bennett suspected of absconding with Wilkerson.
Upping efforts to find the pair the federal agency distributed more than 40,000 flyers at truck stops and roadside motels and has dedicated an entire Houston unit to following leads.
The two were traced to Oklahoma City, where Bennett made two phone calls to family members, who told police they had urged him to drop Wilkerson off somewhere safe. The two have not been heard from since.
Local officers have charged the man with harboring a runaway. Local police say the FBI's increased involvement should help tremendously. |
