Vows To Never Give Her Up |

On February 24, 1996, Helen Braun and her toddler Rebecca were heading out the door of their Tempe, Arizona apartment when the phone rang.
Helen made a snap decision that afternoon that she regrets to this day.
Helen told little Rebecca to wait by the car while she went inside to answer the phone. The call turned out to be nothing important, a man was mumbling for someone named "Sarah," and Helen explained that he had the wrong number.
When Helen went outside, little Rebecca was gone.
Then the telephone rang again.
On the line was Helen's estranged boyfriend, Danny Moran, and Rebecca's biological father.
According to Tempe PD, Moran had been the prank caller, distracting Helen's attention away from Rebecca, giving Moran the opportunity he was waiting for.
Police say Moran taunted Helen that he had taken Rebecca and vowed that she would never see her daughter again. |

Eight Years Of Separation |

Rebecca Braun has been missing for over eight years and the FBI has not had one viable lead.
The sweet toddler her mother adored just celebrated her 11th birthday.
Child psychologists say that even though Rebecca is with her biological father doesn't mean she isn't in danger. Living on the run takes a toll on children, just ask Moran's two sons.
In 1986, the FBI says Moran was arrested for kidnapping his sons from a previous marriage. He was convicted and served two years at an Arizona State Prison.
The FBI is concerned about Rebecca because of what is becoming a pattern for Moran to kidnap his children following a failed relationship. They wonder if Moran is doing this out of revenge or is it to fulfill some psychotic need?
Police say the afternoon Moran snatched Rebecca he had bragged to Helen Braun, "I'm smarter now and you're never going to catch me."
"The smartest thing Moran could do right now," says an agent," is let his daughter have a normal life. Rebecca probably has no idea she has a biological mother who's been tormented from this loss all these years." |
