Case Story |

An Executive Smile |
|
| |
Mark Jackson was the kind of executive who would alert his office, even if he was running five minutes late. So when the normally reliable marketing executive failed to show for work in late June of this year, his co-workers called the police.
Mark's two bedroom Ft. Lauderdale condo was immaculate. Mysteriously Mark's keys, access key to his building and cellphone were sitting on the kitchen counter. His new BMW was parked in the lot out back.
The only thing missing was Mark, his wallet and credit cards. |

Vanished Inside Condominium |
|
| |
Ft. Lauderdale homicide detectives quickly determined Mark had an out-of-town friend visiting that weekend. Surveillance cameras at the condominum show Mark and his friend coming home early Sunday morning, June 27th, 2004.
Mark's friend told Detectives they arrived at Mark's condo at 4:15am. He said he fell asleep at 5am, but when he awoke six hours later, Mark was gone.
The most baffling mystery is how Mark left his apartment building. Unfortunately for police the surveilllance tape machine erroneously stopped recording an hour after Mark arrived home.
After two months with not one viable lead, Ft. Lauderdale Police turned to America's Most Wanted and we enlisted the expertise of retired Detective Sgt. Joe Matthews of Miami Beach homicide.
Det. Matthews did an area canvass of Mark's condominium, The Drake Tower, and interviewed many of Mark's friends, including Mark's weekend guest.
"I don't see Mark packing up and leaving to start a new life or to go away for a month or two," says Det. Matthews. "I think something happened right after he left the apartment. ...Did he leave the building? I don't think so. I feel that the story will be told within that building." |
