Generous OU Student Grants Ride, Disappears |
|
| |
Juli Buskin was a successful student, a beautiful ballerina and a good friend to many at the University of Oklahoma. Her friends described her as always dependable. So it was no surprise that she agreed to give a ride to one of her friends who needed to get to the airport for a flight home for Christmas break. The trip needed to occur before 5 a.m., but Juli was still game.
She drove her friend to Oklahoma City and supposedly returned back to her Norman, Oklahoma apartment at around 5:30a.m. That's when neighbors heard a scream, followed by an aggressive man's voice say, "Just shut up, get in the car." |

Juli's Parents Get Horrible News |
|
| |
When the sun came up, Juli was nowhere to be seen. For the entire day, friends and family searched for Juli, but it wasn't until that afternoon when a fisherman found something along Lake Stanley Draper in nearby Oklahoma City. It was the body of Juli Busken. She had been raped, murdered and dumped by the water.
While Juli's body was found in Oklahoma City, cops were confused to find that her car was found back up in Norman. Cops surmise that the killer may have driven her car. And that suspicion was later bolstered when a witness came forward, placing a man in her car around the time of the disappearance. Cops developed a composite of that man. |

Charges Brought Against DNA |
|
| |
For years investigators tried to find the man driving Juli's car, the man they suspected was responsible for her death. America's Most Wanted joined that hunt in 1997, but despite all the effort, no suspect was ever identified.
But that didn't stop prosecutors. In an unusual move, District Attorney Tim Kuykendall filed criminal charges of murder, rape, forcible sodomy and kidnapping against the DNA profile. He hopes that when investigators find the person whose DNA matches that found at the crime scene, those charges will be transferred to him. |
