Quinceanera Princess Picks Risky Date |

September 16, 2000 was supposed to be an exciting day for a 15-year-old Napa, California girl - full of family, friends, and food in celebration of the rite of passage into adulthood. Instead, it ended in a bloody slaying at the hands of her date.
After attending a church mass, the teen and over 300 guests attended her quinceanera party at the Napa, California fairgrounds. She asked Marco Camacho to be her escort to the special event. However, police say she didn't know that her date had a violent past and even worse temper. |

Guest Murdered, Dies in Fiancee's Arms |

Robert Torres showed up at the party with some friends. They were denied entry by security because they did not have their invitations. Torres approached Camacho who happened to be outside and asked if he knew "Juan," who had invited him. Police say Camacho became angry with Torres and the two got into a heated verbal argument. Then, police say, Camacho turned violent, pulling a gun from his waistband and firing at Torres. Torres was struck in the torso and wrist and fell, dying, into the arms of his 5-months pregnant fiancee. Police say a nearby witness began to run away and Camacho then turned the gun on him and began shooting. This guest was able to escape without injury. But, Camacho fled the scene and was last seen jumping over the fence at the fairgrounds. Two weeks later, Torres died as a result of his injuries. Friends say that Torres had no prior affiliation with Camacho. |

Camacho's Violent Past Revealed |

During the investigation, cops discovered that Camacho had fired shots at another quinceanera event two days earlier. Camacho was attending the quincianera rehearsal at a local elementary school and some other uninvited individuals showed up at the party. Camacho fired shots at them, but no one was hurt.
Also, on November 5, 1999, CHP officers had pulled over Camacho and seized a Ruger Mini-14 rifle and 50 .223 caliber rounds from his car trunk.
Camacho has not been seen since that fatal day at the Napa, California fairgrounds. Officials say he should be considered armed and dangerous. |
