Case Story |

A Brutal, Random Attack |
|
| |
In London, Ontario on a cold winter's evening, a single mother woke up to a strange man in her bedroom. Her first thoughts went to her children sleeping in their rooms down the hall ... four of them, ages 3 to 17.
Then, suddenly, the intruder started stabbing and beating her. He didn't stop until she stopped moving. Then, he ran off. |

Police ID Attacker |
|
| |
Cops have identified the intruder as Skerdi Zena. They say that on Saturday, January 31st, 2004 at about 3:45am, Zena broke into the woman's townhouse via a back window, as the woman and her children slept. Cops say that after Zena came in through the window, he took off his shoes and coat, then entered the bedroom where he began his vicious attack. Police say that Zena only ran away after he though he'd killed his victim. He left his coat, shoes and cell phone behind.
The most frightening aspect of this horrible attack is that no one knows why it occured. Police haven't been able to establish a motive -- and they say there are no previous links between the victim and Zena. |

Cops:
It's Not His First Time. |
|
| |
Police have been able to link Zena, via DNA evidence, to other break-ins in the London, Ontario area. In each case, cops say, the residents are at home and asleep. And in each incident, they say, Zena takes off a piece of clothing and begins going through the homes.
The January 31st incident is the first time cops have linked Zena to a violent attack. But they fear there may now be more to come. |
