Man Throws Himself In Front of Moving Car |
|
| |
It was more than odd -- it was dangerous. A man threw himself in front traffic on a busy street in south San Jose, California. When motorists tried to assist the man, he jumped up, got into a car, and sped off. A call to 9-1-1 brought police to the scene where they canvassed witnesses. Amazingly, someone was able to come up with a license plate number for the man's getaway car. Cops weren't even sure what to charge this guy with, but they figured they better find him before he hurt himself -- or worse, somebody else. Little did they know he already had. |

Kumar Turns Violent |
|
| |
When police in San Jose tracked down the man they say jumped in front of traffic was Lovekesh Kumar, an Indian man who lived in nearby Clovis, California. And police learned something else -- Kumar was wanted for the murder of his wife and mother-in-law.
Police in Clovis say earlier that day, Kumar had brutally stabbed his estranged wife, 23-year-old Pooja Vasudeva and her mother, 43-year-old Neeraj Narula. Pooja's family told police Kumar was a very aggressive alcoholic who used to beat her. Her family says Pooja finally grew tried of Kumar's behavior and moved in with her parents, making Kumar even angrier -- so angry, in fact, police say he decided to kill her. |

A Lost Sister And Mother |
|
| |
Police say on January 10, 2003, Pooja's sister went to visit their mother after several failed attempts to reach her by phone. When she walked in the front door, she found her sister and her mother dead. Through their investigation, police were able to link Kumar to the murders -- but they couldn't find him. Police say the last time anyone saw Kumar was in San Jose, dodging cars in rush hour traffic.
Hollywood police later found Kumar's white Honda parked in a garage on January 14, 2003. Police say a parking attendant called police after no one came to claim the car over the weekend. And despite sightings of Kumar in the Hollywood area, police say they still don't know where he is hidding.
