Retired Police Officer Accused of Sex Crimes |

Robert Cox is wanted by the Sandy Police Department for child molestation. Cox was a police officer with the West Valley Police Department in Salt Lake Valley. Cox married a woman who had two young daughters and moved in with them. According to officials, Cox stayed home with the children while their mother worked. Shortly after he retired form the police force, the daughters revealed that Cox had been sexually abusing them. The sexual abuse incidents occurred in Sandy from the summer of 1995 to June 1996. |

An investigation into the allegations was launched, but before it could be concluded, Cox fled the state. He resurfaced in Minnesota and got a job at Wal-Mart. Sandy Police Department detectives tracked him there and asked Minnesota cops to make contact with Cox. The Minnesota cops conducted a video-taped interview about the molestation case back in Utah, but because no formal charges were filed at the time, Cox was not arrested. He vanished again after the interview. |
