Police Say Alleged Rapist Is On The Run |

James Ross Fischer is wanted by the Albany Police Department in Oregon for rape and sexual abuse.
Police say Fischer had sexual intercourse three times between mid-January 1999 and early February 1999 with a 15-year-old-girl. On February 12, 1999 he was arrested on rape charges and incarcerated in the Linn County Jail. However, he was later released on his own recognizance.
According to officials, he was indicted on several rape and sexual abuse charges, and his trial was scheduled for November 1999. But Fischer was a no show. Police tracked him to North Carolina in April 2000, but before they could arrest him, Fischer fled to Georgia. There, his run from the law came to an end, or so they thought.
Police arrested Fischer in a remote mountain cabin, and he was taken to the Fanin County Jail. But while he was awaiting extradition, he somehow escaped. |
