  Case Story
Police Say Alleged Drug Dealers Seek Retaliation
The U.S. Marshals Service and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation are searching for "Red" Boxley and his half brother, Benny Young. The USMS and TBI say Boxley and Young, known drug dealers with connections in Kentucky, Illinois and Indiana, ran a large drug operation, along with Clarence "Chuck" Gaston, until Boxley was indicted on drug distribution charges. Boxley was forced to go underground and his partnership with Gaston fell apart. Agents say in mid-1998, Boxley and his associates robbed Gaston's drug house. In retaliation, Gaston targeted, Boxley's brother, Benny Young. Instead, agents say on December 31, 1998, Gaston killed Zackary Echols who was standing next to Young.

  Deadly Revenge
When Boxley heard the news, agents say he set out to kill Gaston the next day, January 1, 1999. But, according to officials, when Boxley and Young couldn't find Gaston, they stumbled upon his brother, Sherman Gaston, instead and followed him to his apartment. Agents say Boxley and Young knocked on the door. A young child answered and Sherman appeared. Agents say Boxley shot Sherman in the head, killing him, as the child looked on.

  Connections Made
In February 1999, investigators pieced together the two shootings. Clarence Gaston and two others were convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Zackary Echols. By June 2001, Red Boxley, Benny Young and two other associates were indicted in the retaliation murder of Sherman Gaston. But, by then, Boxley and Young were long gone.
