  Case Story
  A U.S. Tragedy Abroad
The FBI reports that Ahmed Mohammed Hamed Ali has been formally indicted for his alleged role in the August 7, 1998 attacks on two U.S embassies in Africa. Ali is said to be a key player in the truck bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. Several government agencies reported that over 5,000 people were injured in the attacks, killing 257. According to the U.S. Department of State, these bombings were the beginning of U.S. involvement in preventing terrorism around the world. The U.S. government says Ali should be considered armed and dangerous and is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading directly to his capture.
