A U.S. Tragedy Abroad |
|
| |
The FBI reports that Al-Qaeda operative Anas Al-Liby has been formally indicted for his alleged role in the August 7, 1998 attacks on two U.S embassies in Africa. Al-Liby is said to be a key player in the truck bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. Several government agencies reported that over 5,000 people were injured in the attacks, with 257 killed.
According to the official website of the Department of State, these bombings were the beginning of U.S. involvement in preventing terrorism around the world. The FBI says Al-Liby should be considered armed and dangerous and is offering a reward of up to $5 million for information leading directly to his capture. |
