  Case Story
  Oklahoma State Fair Murders
For Rocky and Charlotte Pennington, the pain is still unbearable, even after almost 20 years. It was September 23, 1987.  Their two daughters, Cheryl Genzer, 25, and Lisa Pennington, 16, went out for a night of fun at the Oklahoma State Fair with friends Doug Lawson and Lane Henley. The four ended up partying at Henley's house in Britton, a small town on the outskirts of Oklahoma City.  Lawson fell asleep, and the next morning Henley told him the girls had made a late night phone call to have someone pick them up at the 7-Eleven, four blocks away.  But Lisa and Cheryl never made it home that night. Their bodies were discovered three weeks later, each shot in the head, buried together in a shallow grave near a small pond in Britton.  Police determined the murder weapon was a .357 caliber handgun, which was never recovered.  With little forensic evidence to work with, the investigation seemed to go nowhere. But five years later, when Doug Lawson was arrested on drug charges, he identified Lane Henley as Cheryl and Lisa's killer in exchange for a reduced jail sentence.  Henley was arrested in Dallas, where he was living, and extradited back to Oklahoma City.  On the eve of the trial, however, 19 months later, Lawson recanted his story and Henley was set free.  Lane Henley moved to Roswell, New Mexico and the investigation stagnated.

  And Then Another Murder...
AMW brought in retired NYPD Detective Ron Antoci to take a fresh look at this baffling double homicide. His investigation followed the trail from Oklahoma to New Mexico where Det. Antoci made an interesting discovery.  Lane Henley's girlfriend, 35-year-old Molly Keahey, had been murdered.  After going missing in November of 1999, Molly's body was found in a shallow grave, near the Pecos River, 15 miles outside of Roswell.  Sheriff's detectives determined Molly died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head. Molly's death was strikingly similar to the murders of Cheryl and Lisa. All three women were shot, buried in shallow graves, near a body of water.  It is believed the last person to see all three victims alive was Lane Henley. Could it be just a coincidence? That's what Lane Henley believes.  In an interview with Det. Antoci, a visibly nervous Henley told AMW he had nothing to do with the murders of Cheryl Genzer, Lisa Pennington, or Molly Keahey. The Chavis County Sheriff's Dept in Roswell has not said publicly whether Henley is a suspect in the murder of his girlfriend Molly, nor is Oklahoma City PD speculating on whether the three cases are connected.  But for Det. Antoci it could be a big step towards bringing closure now to two sets of parents.
