It was January 1991, and the town of Hoover, Alabama was under seige by an unknown serial rapist. So, police took a shot in the dark and began staking out apartment complexes. About two a.m. on January 6th,a vehicle entered the parking lot. It was a woman returning home from a night out with friends. Seconds later, another vehicle driven by a man pulled in. Hoover police were ready.
The man, only wearing leopard briefs, socks, high-tops, and a mask walked up to the car and exposed himself. Hoover police arrested Grady Mullins who then pleaded guilty to sexual assault and attempted first degree rape. He was given probation, but by the summer of 1992, Mullins had moved an hour north to Huntsville, Alabama. |

Mullins Strikes Again... |

On July 5th 1992, Beth Ambroz had been sunbathing at her apartment's swimming pool. When Beth went to check on her dinner, her neighbor, Stephanie, was left alone by the pool. Beth heard Stephanie screaming, and when she went outside to see what was wrong, police say she saw a naked man lying on top of her neighbor.
Mullins was arrested and served three years. In 1997 he was released and moved to Las Vegas. According to police, Mullins was living a double life. By day, he worked for a company that built stages for various casinos. But Mullins' dark side was intensifying, and police say the most violent of his attacks happened on August 19th, 2000.
A woman had just come home when she was grabbed from behind and tackled to the ground. With a large man sitting on top of her, police say the woman fought back. But, according to officials, the man put a gun to her head and pulled the trigger. Thankfully, it was only a cap gun. |

On January 27, 2001, police say Mullins picked the wrong victim. Susan, a cocktail waitress, had just finished her shift at one of the casinos. Susan's husband, Daryl, was always concerned about his wife's safety. She'd call him whenever she pulled up in their apartment complex.
While she was on the phone with him, police say Mullins attacked her, and this time, his weapon was a can of spray paint. Susan's husband, Daryl, came to his wife's aid. When he thought he'd overpowered Mullins, Daryl went to make sure his wife was okay and to call 911.
But, Mullins managed to get away. Daryl got a glimpse of his license plate, and it was the break Las Vegas police were looking for. Two days after the attack, police found his truck abandoned in Wyoming, but Mullins hasn't been seen since. |
