  Case Story
Cops Say Sisters Unite in Murder
Police say Margaret DeFrancisco, 17 and her sister Regina , 18, are wanted for murder. Regina dated Oscar Velazquez, 22, who worked as a truck driver, for about three weeks in May 2000. On June 6, 2000, Regina called Oscar to her home and lured him into the basement.  At the bottom of the stairs, Regina she began to talk to Oscar.  According to officials, a friend of the girls witnessed what happened next; as Regina and Oscar talked,  Margaret came from behind with a .38 semi-automatic pistol.  Cops say she shot Oscar once in the head, instantly killing him. Cops say Oscar was known to carry a large amount of cash on him and that after the sisters shot Oscar, they removed approximately $600.00 in cash from his pocket.  They also allegedly took a silver chain and keys to his new white 2000 Camero Z28 that was sitting outside. Police say the sisters rolled up Oscar's lifeless body in a plastic sheet and carried it to the car. The witness also told police that Regina and Margaret used a bucket of bleach to wash down the sidewalk where the blood had dripped.

Authorities say the girls jumped into the car, and after driving around for a while, pulled the car into a vacant lot.  Regina found a bottle of nail polish remover and decided to destroy the body by lighting it on fire. An anonymous caller phone 911 to report a fire in the vacant parking lot. When the anonymous tipster ran out to dump water on the fire, he noticed an arm in the rubble and called 911 again. The body was later identified as Oscar Velasquez. Police say the girls drove off and attempted to sell the victim's car. Once they realized no one wanted to purchase the car, they lit it on fire. When cops questioned Regina and Margaret, their stories didn't match up. The two quickly fled the area and have not been seen since.
