Alleged Cop Killer On The Run |

Jason McVean is wanted for the murder of a Cortez, Colorado police officer and the attempted murder of two Montezuma County Sheriff's deputies.
Police say on May 29, 1998 McVean and two friends -- Alan Pilon and Robert Mason -- were driving a stolen water truck when they ambushed Cortez Police Officer Dale Claxton, killing him. In a pursuit that followed, police say the men shot at several officers, wounding Montezuma Sheriff's Deputy Jason Bishop and Detective Todd Martin.
Shortly after, the men disappeared into the canyon on foot and with that -- one of the West's wildest manhunts ensued.
On June 4th, 1998 police found Robert Mason's body in Bluff, Utah. Cops say he shot himself after shooting and wounding another local officer.
Then, on October 31, 1999 a group of hunters stumbled upon Alan Pilon's body in San Juan County, Utah. Cops say it appears he died shortly after the incident.
Police say Jason McVean. He's 6'2" tall, 165 lbs. and has brown hair and grey eyes. |
