  Case Story
  Petty Argument Escalates To Murder
Kevin Vermette is wanted for a 1997 triple homicide that left three men dead and another man in critical condition, in Kitimat, British Columbia. The dispute between Vermette and four men,  Mark Teves, Michael Mauro, David Nunes and Donny Oliveira started with the most insignificant of arguments.  Vermette had joined a gym also frequented by the four men.  One day Vermette and Mark Teves had an argument about the music playing at the gym.  The dispute got heated but not violent.  Unfortunately it wasn't over. About a month later, Vermette ran into Teves and  another of the men.  The argument started up again.  This time it ended with Vermette striking Teves.  Teves was upset, and his frustration with Vermette grew.  On July 12, 1997, someone slashed Vermette's tires.  Police theorize that Vermette believed it was Teves and that he planned on getting his revenge.

  Police Believe Vermette Caused Bloodbath
According to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, later on July 12, 1997, the four friends stopped by Hirsch Creek Park in Kitimat on their way to a party. At 9:30pm, fishermen heard five gunshots, a pause, two more shots, a pause and one final shot. When police arrived at the scene, they found four men laying a pool of blood. Teves, Mauro and Nunes were dead at the scene. Oliveira was suffering from a gunshot wound and was taken to a hospital in Vancouver where he recovered. Police used eyewitness interviews and other evidence at the scene to charge Vermette with the slayings. Police used a helicopter and dog teams to search the heavily wooded area but were not able to find him.  For years now, police have kept up the search, but none of the leads which have come into police ever panned out.
