  Case Story
A Good Citizen Messes With The Wrong Guys
For ten long years, the Dixmoor, Ill. Police Department has been searching for the killers of Ricky Lee McDaniel, in a story where a good citizen paid for his actions. In January 1994, McDaniel chased down a drunk driver and his passenger-- two men named Eduardo Flores and Jacer Medina. Police say McDaniel pulled his car in front of Flores to stop the car, and delivered a blow to Medina. Cops say Medina had a gun-- but got scared and ran off when he heard police sirens. McDaniel was able to hold on to Flores until police arrived. Four months later, Flores and Medina would make McDaniel pay for his good deeds.

Police: A Vendetta Turns Two Men Into Killers
Police say on April 9, 1994, Eduardo Flores was driving a car with his pal, Jacer Medina, as a passenger, when the two men spotted McDaniel, the man who got them busted for drunk driving. Police say the two began to chase McDaniel's car at high speeds.  According to police, McDaniel was on his way to get something to eat with his fiancee, Dawn, and her seven-year-old daughter. As the family stopped at a traffic light, cops say, Medina and Flores pulled up to the side of the car and began blowing the horn. Police believe that the men began chasing McDaniel's vehicle, tried running him off the road, and eventually rammed McDaniel's car into a high curb. According to police, Medina then shot McDaniel six times with a .32 caliber handgun. Mortally wounded, McDaniel threw his body over Dawn and pushed her and her daughter out of the car to safety. Flores' car was found in Houston, Texas, one week after the shooting.
