  Case Story
The FBI Says Phillip Ferguson Scammed Clients Out Of More Than $20 Million Dollars
Agents say Ferguson stole $20-25 million dollars from about 500 clients who invested with his commodity firms in Marion, Indiana. Most of his victims were teachers, factory workers, and farmers who couldn't afford the lost money. In June of 2000, the Commodities Futures Trading Commission began to investigate Ferguson and he took off. Agents say Ferguson relocated to Golden, Colorado, where he used the aliases William Allen Russell, Al Russell, Richard Gadius and Roy Vernon Cox. In November of 2000, with authorities closing in on him again, Furguson once again fled, leaving his car, furniture and personal belongings behind. Authorities say that only $1 million of the money Phillip Ferguson is accused of stealing has been recovered.
